Feds deny drilling freeze in shallow Gulf water

June 3: BP successfully cut off a damaged portion of the spewing oil pipe on Thursday and prepared to fit a new pipe over it in an attempt to suck most of the oil up to ships on the surface of the Gulf of Mexico.
